Norfolk by Design at Make Holt

Finding the perfect piece for your home can quickly shift from a pleasurable browsing experience to an unwanted headache. In fact, there is little more frustrating than finding the right style, or a maker you love – but the size or colour isn’t available for your project.

We’ve all been there and that’s why we’re pleased to offer a bespoke design service to create something truly unique for your living space –  working in conjunction with many of the makers whose work adorns Make Holt.

Here at Make Holt we will work closely with your brief and our talented makers to create one off pieces for your interior projects, whether it’s a hand tufted rug in pure wool or a lampshade in a specific colour to match an existing scheme.

In addition to larger, interior pieces, we are also able to assist in creating full dinnerware and tableware collections including; plates of all sizes, bowls, vessels and serving-ware.

Recently we have worked with Carolyn Noble (The Dugout Pottery) to develop this vibrant and joyous collection of cups and pourers. Their thick and sumptuous glazes create wonderful tactility and an almost-edible aesthetic in rhubarb pinks [above] and pistachio greens available to buy here.

Further examples of  'Made to Order' collaborations can be seen in the Shirehall Apartments above the shop. Here we collaborated with local artists and designers to create three unique interior schemes, based around a Norfolk colour palette using local, family run paint company Fenwick & Tilbrook.

Specially designed light fittings in glass, willow and wood [Glowood, above] were made to enhance the double height ceilings in the spaces. Hand crafted tables were created using locally grown and up cycled timber. Rugs, cushions, throws and wall hangings were hand woven using plant dyed materials in natural colours that complement the rooms perfectly.

“Norfolk is such wonderful place to work, full of talented people and colour inspiration from coast and countryside. I am passionate about bringing ideas to life and supporting local makers in the process.”

We would be happy to show you around and talk to you about your special project ideas. For more, click here.
